Mechanical Project Engineer

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical system designs including plans, specifications, layouts, calculations, and equipment selections
• Evaluate design criteria, system concepts, space requirements, and coordination needs for HVAC and mechanical systems
• Perform engineering computations including load calculations, equipment sizing, and system performance analysis
• Cover mechanical design with architects, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines, as well as clients and consultants
• Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers with scope development, scheduling, staffing, and design execution
• Participate in meetings with design committees, clients, and internal teams
• Review work prepared by Designers and CAD Operators to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards
• Assist with construction-related clarifications and documentation
• Conduct site observations to verify installation compliance with design intent
• Contribute to project cost estimating and budget updates
• Provide recommendations to improve design standards, tools, and engineering processes

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) preferred; P.E. track desirable
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in building systems
• Proficiency in HVAC design principles, applicable mechanical codes, and engineering computation methods
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred
