Mechanical Project Engineer
Responsibilities
- Prepare mechanical system designs including plans, specifications, layouts, calculations, and equipment selections
- Evaluate design criteria, system concepts, space requirements, and coordination needs for HVAC and mechanical systems
- Perform engineering computations including load calculations, equipment sizing, and system performance analysis
- Cover mechanical design with architects, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines, as well as clients and consultants
- Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers with scope development, scheduling, staffing, and design execution
- Participate in meetings with design committees, clients, and internal teams
- Review work prepared by Designers and CAD Operators to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards
- Assist with construction-related clarifications and documentation
- Conduct site observations to verify installation compliance with design intent
- Contribute to project cost estimating and budget updates
- Provide recommendations to improve design standards, tools, and engineering processes
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) preferred; P.E. track desirable
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in building systems
- Proficiency in HVAC design principles, applicable mechanical codes, and engineering computation methods
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred
