Mechanical Project Engineer

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and execution of automation systems that integrate Makino machining centers with robotics and material handling solutions.
• Design automation equipment such as end-of-arm tooling, conveyors, safety systems, and system layouts.
• Develop complete design packages (3D models, drawings, BOMs, documentation).
• Perform mechanical analysis (tolerance stack-ups, stress, deflection, etc.).
• Conduct robot reach studies and support system layout development.
• Partner with internal engineering teams, suppliers, and customers from concept through final system acceptance.
• Support fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting of automated systems.
• Lead design reviews and contribute to project cost estimates and proposals.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Stay current on emerging automation technologies and recommend design improvements.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical experience.
• 7+ years of mechanical design experience, including automation systems.
• Strong experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Background in designing machinery, automation systems, or robotic integration.
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems, mechanical components, and system design.
• Familiarity with industry standards (OSHA, ANSI, ISO, CE, RIA).
• Experience troubleshooting and solving complex engineering problems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
