About the role
The Mechanical Project Engineer will oversee the development of engineering designs, coordinate changes to project documents and specifications, and support client engagement. They will design HVAC systems for various facilities and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and integration of engineering activities throughout the life of a project
- Design HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, education, hospitality, government, residential, retail, and industrial facilities
- Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions
- Lead engineering design teams and coordinate project deliverables
- Design HVAC load calculations
- Manage project timelines and budgets
- Interact with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer preferred
- 6–10 years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm
- MEP project management experience
- Experience designing commercial and industrial HVAC systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering design teams and coordinate project deliverables
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination throughout the design process
- Thorough knowledge of the International Mechanical Code, Chicago Mechanical Code, and ASHRAE design standards
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- LEED Accreditation preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Working knowledge of Revit and discipline-specific software such as Trane/TRACE and Trace 3D
