About the role
The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for driving engineering projects from start to finish, providing expertise in material handling systems, and working closely with various departments.
Responsibilities
- Assist Sales in creating equipment proposals by providing engineering analysis and design expertise.
- Assist Project Managers with system commissioning and field support.
- Evaluate and understand project requirements to plan execution of components design and select system components.
- Evaluate manufacturing feasibility, estimate cost, and assess maintenance requirements of material handling systems.
- Design systems layout and specific components on 2D and 3D CAD equipment and software.
- Write specifications, user’s manuals, and enter other data to fully document engineering designs.
- Career coordination, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication.
- Able to coordinate the efforts between different fields of engineering, purchasing, project management and site integration.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare a variety of meeting notes, letters and technical reports that are clear and concise.
- Able to successfully define technical scope of work for the purchase of sub-systems or components.
- Able to make technical decisions for optimum end results.
- Able to present technical solutions for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to take lead on multiple logistic projects at the same time.
- Able to lead project worth up to 30 mil. USD.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and related field or equivalent experience.
- 6 to 10 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing and project engineering settings. Preferred experience in design of automated machines and material handling capital equipment.
- Prefers a broad background in various machine technologies (control, pneumatic, hydraulic).
- Proficient in 2D and 3D modeling CAD design programs.
- Ability to analyze and design basic mechanical components by applying knowledge of mechanical engineering.
- Ability to specify mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
- Good knowledge of drafting, dimensioning, tolerancing and manufacturing processes.
- Excellence in time management; attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
- Excellence in communication (both verbal and written).
- Professional, positive, and have an energetic attitude-excellent interpersonal skills. Self-motivated, trustworthy, and respectful of others.
- Able to travel both domestically and internationally as needed, up to 20%.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Be able to apply engineering principles and practices to the solution of advanced mechanical engineering problems.
- Good Understanding of IBC and OSHA requirements for Material Handling Equipment.
- Effective use of project engineering tools.
- Expertise of electrical motors, pneumatics, hydraulics and power transmission techniques.
- Able to lead prototype testing efforts of various Material Handling Equipment components and come up with technical solutions.
