Mechanical Project Engineer 2
Principal Responsibilities
Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in accordance with applicable codes and IMEG standards.
Develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools.
Partner with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong working relationships.
Support consulting project execution through project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
Document design decisions and client direction while tracking project progress against percent complete and fee expended.
Analyze engineering challenges and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions.
Perform in-process reviews of system designs, calculations, and specifications and apply IMEG quality control processes.
Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering and contribute to innovation efforts.
Identify and mitigate safety risks associated with mechanical systems and prioritize safety in all aspects of work.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that align with project goals.
Identify potential project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed.
Support projects through bidding and construction administration phases.
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required, 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry (years of experience may vary based on state license qualifications)
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficiency in the use of Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) software
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
