About the role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Project Designer based in Houston, TX to support the design and execution of renewable natural gas (RNG), landfill gas-to-energy, biogas upgrading, and gas processing systems. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Engineers and cross-functional teams to develop detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, equipment layouts, and engineering documentation for custom packaged equipment solutions. This position is ideal for an experienced SolidWorks professional with a passion for innovative industrial equipment design, process systems, and sustainable energy solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Design skid-mounted process equipment, piping systems, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Develop equipment layouts, BOMs, and project drawing packages.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers to deliver cost-effective, safe, and reliable designs.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical submittals.
  • Prepare operating, maintenance, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in industrial, energy, gas processing, chemical, or related industries.
  • Strong SolidWorks modeling and drafting experience, including routing.
  • Experience with packaged equipment, piping systems, or skid-mounted equipment preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of ASME, AISC, ASTM, OSHA, and related industry standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Education

Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Salary: $75K–$85K depending on experience
