About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, coordination, documentation, and construction administration of plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, natural gas, fire protection, and specialty piping systems.
- Perform hydraulic and engineering calculations, including pipe sizing, pressure loss, flow rates, and equipment selection.
- Prepare plumbing layouts, construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable local and national plumbing codes and standards, including IPC, NSPC, IFGC, ASPE, and NFPA.
- Incorporate applicable green building requirements, including LEED and WELL standards.
- Coincide plumbing designs with architectural, HVAC, electrical, structural, and other project disciplines.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
- Review shop drawings, product submittals, RFIs, and other construction documentation.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, field assessments, and construction administration activities.
- Aid in engineering studies, technical reports, proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Support project management activities and help ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
Requirements
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license – Required.
- 3–5 years of relevant mechanical/plumbing engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing engineering principles, practices, and applicable codes.
- Experience designing plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, or institutional projects.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, Bluebeam, and Mathcad.
- Experience with hydraulic calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of MEP coordination and construction administration.
- Experience reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Able and willing to work in person at the Mount Holly, NJ office.
