Job Title: Mechanical Owners RepresentativeJob Description The Mechanical Owners Representative oversees large-scale renewable energy construction projects, with a primary focus on utility-scale solar mechanical work. This role serves as the owner’s eyes and ears on site, ensuring that mechanical construction activities meet safety, quality, and contractual requirements while fostering collaboration among contractors and stakeholders. The position involves extensive travel to project sites, active participation in field activities, and consistent reporting on project progress and compliance. Responsibilities Maintain a regular on-site presence during hours when contractors are working to monitor mechanical construction activities and overall site conditions.Act as a safety steward by adhering to all safety requirements, identifying deficiencies or safety concerns, and promptly reporting them to the Construction Manager and relevant stakeholders.Stop work when there is immediate danger to employees or equipment, or when major quality concerns arise, and support corrective actions to resolve issues.Monitor the quality of mechanical construction and verify compliance with permits, supplier agreements, construction contracts, scopes of work, designs, and technical specifications.Serve as the liaison between all mechanical contractors on site, promoting clear communication, coordination, and alignment with project goals.Review all mechanical test reports for accuracy and completeness, and evaluate contractors’ mechanical QA/QC documentation to ensure standards are met.Perform daily visits to construction areas to observe work in progress, participate in quality benchmarks and contractor safety programs, and attend scheduled field testing of mechanical work to witness and confirm that results meet specifications.Conduct both spot checks and in-depth inspections based on project needs and guidance from construction management, documenting findings and following up on corrective actions.Occasionally assist in other technical disciplines such as materials or electrical quality assurance, and actively develop cross-functional skills to support broader project quality needs.Establish regular points of connection with contractors by attending Plan of Day (POD) meetings, End of Day (EOD) meetings, and other all-hands gatherings to stay informed and aligned with daily and weekly priorities.Build and maintain positive working relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, fostering a collaborative environment and recognizing high-quality work.Perform regular visits to construction areas to participate in project-wide quality benchmarks and safety programs led by project contractors.Report promptly any deviations or anticipated deviations from project specifications to project leadership, supporting timely resolution and mitigation.Prepare and submit weekly written reports that include detailed records, photos, and summaries of on-site activities, progress, and key discussions or agreements with contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, transmission providers, site owners, government officials, the public, and other relevant parties.Attend in-office or virtual training sessions and meetings as required to stay current on project requirements, processes, and tools, and apply these learnings to work on the project.Use construction management software to create and store reports, review documentation, and complete other project-related tasks, ensuring accurate and organized record-keeping.Participate in virtual meetings and documentation reviews when not physically on the project site to maintain continuity of oversight and communication.Support mechanical construction on utility-scale solar projects that utilize single-axis tracking systems and related racking technologies.Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across solar, wind, and battery energy storage system projects. Essential Skills At least 4 years of mechanical experience on utility-scale solar projects, with direct involvement in construction or field operations.Hands-on experience with mechanical systems used in utility-scale solar installations, including single-axis tracking systems and associated racking.Strong background in mechanical quality control and quality assurance, including inspection, documentation review, and test result validation.Ability to interpret and apply permits, construction agreements, scopes of work, designs, and technical specifications in a field environment.Experience inspecting mechanical work on solar projects to verify compliance with design and quality standards.Proficiency in reviewing mechanical test reports and QA/QC documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements.Capability to identify safety hazards and quality issues in the field and take appropriate actions, including stopping work when necessary.Effective communication skills to act as a liaison between mechanical contractors and project leadership, and to prepare clear written reports.Comfort working in a highly travel-intensive role across solar, wind, and battery energy storage system project sites. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project environments is highly desirable.Prior experience working with Nextracker or ATI racking systems on utility-scale solar projects is a strong plus.Familiarity with utility-scale solar mechanical systems and single-axis tracker technologies.Experience working on or around solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.Ability to use construction management software for reporting, documentation storage, and review.Strong relationship-building skills to create positive, collaborative partnerships with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.Commitment to ongoing learning through training sessions and cross-functional quality assurance exposure in mechanical, materials, and electrical disciplines. Work Environment This role is 100% travel-based and is focused on field work at solar, wind, and battery energy storage system project sites. The Mechanical Owners Representative spends most of their time on active construction sites, working closely with contractors during regular working hours and attending daily and end-of-day coordination meetings. The environment involves outdoor work around large mechanical and solar installations, single-axis tracking systems, and associated racking equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality programs. The position includes participation in virtual meetings and documentation reviews when not on site. The role offers various travel-related reimbursements and allowances, including gas, trip home support, mobilization and demobilization assistance, vehicle mileage or rental reimbursement, and phone reimbursement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Waldron, AR. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
