About the role
As a Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Intern specializing in life-science instrumentation, you will contribute to the development and optimization of innovative cell culture products. This is a very hands-on role working with the core founding team, with the opportunity to get direct insight into a new startup's operations. The onsite internship is located in the greater Chicago area, with the opportunity for limited remote work (10–20%).
Responsibilities
- Assist with mechanical design and perform computer-aided design (CAD) tasks
- Support manufacturing process development
- Provide hands-on production support and maintenance
- Participate in vendor management and assembly processes
- Engage in engineering problem-solving and prototype development
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering (or recently graduated)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving instincts
- Comfortable working independently in a startup environment
