About the role

The Mechanical Integration Lead drives the successful installation, integration, and deployment of material handling equipment (MHE) across multiple fulfillment center sites. This role provides hands-on mechanical engineering leadership in complex automation environments, ensuring projects meet Amazon's safety, timeline, cost, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage and lead mechanical installation crews deploying MHE across North American facilities

  • Oversee structural header steel installation including hanging steel, prebuilding supports, and anchoring to building structure

  • Lead conveyor prep and placement operations — rigging, lifting, staging, and setting conveyor sections into final positions on installed supports

  • Manage conveyor connections and belting crews — ensuring proper mechanical alignment, bed connections, squaring, leveling, and hardware tightening

  • Direct side guide and netting installation ensuring proper alignment and tension

  • Manage pneumatic/air systems installation including air connections to conveyor components, pressure testing, and leak verification

  • Collaborate across engineering, supply chain, and operations to implement scalable solutions, resolve technical issues in the field, and deliver high-impact results across large, multi-site programs

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering, operations engineering, manufacturing engineering, or project engineering in a manufacturing or construction environment

  • Experience in a supervisory role managing installation crews, maintenance technicians, or tradespeople

  • Experience with the project management of technical projects in fast-paced, automated industrial environments

  • Experience delivering technical projects in active construction environments

  • Able to travel up to 50% domestically; travel may exceed 50% in some instances with short notice

  • Ability to read and understand installation drawings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement principles & techniques

  • Prior experience managing millwrights, maintenance technicians, fabricators, ironworkers, riggers, pipefitters, or aircraft mechanics

  • Prior experience installing conveyor or sortation systems

  • Experience with rigging, crane operations, and heavy equipment placement

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM 360, or equivalent CAD software

  • Experience working with and managing third-party vendors and subcontractors

  • Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement methodologies

  • Experience with pneumatic systems installation and testing

  • PMP or other project management certification
