About the Role

This position manages and provides on-site supervision of all working Foremen and technical leads in the field on utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The General Foreman ensures safe, productive, and quality construction while controlling costs. This role requires independent decision-making, scheduling of labor, materials, tools, and equipment, and adherence to project specifications and contract requirements. The General Foreman provides technical expertise for mechanical and civil construction work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct Foremen, Field Engineers, and crews to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.
  • Plan and coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and tools to maximize productivity and control costs.
  • Implement and improve standardized work plans, methods, and field processes.
  • Serve as the technical resource for civil and mechanical construction activities.
  • Enforce company, site, state, and federal safety requirements and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Communicate project status, risks, staffing needs, and performance issues with the Trade Superintendent.
  • Foster a professional, collaborative work environment with employees, subcontractors, vendors, and owners.
  • Monitor productivity, labor, equipment usage, and costs against project budgets and schedules.
  • Ensure all work meets project quality standards, specifications, and workmanship expectations.
  • Mentor and develop Foremen, Field Engineers, and other field personnel.
  • Maintain workforce and equipment plans, understand contract requirements and site conditions, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Ability to manage and supervise multiple employees.
  • Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment uses and limitations.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with owners and employees.
  • Relocation to the project site community is required.
  • May need to pursue company contract licensing, journeyman, or master electrician license.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of required federal and state codes for the project.
  • Previous utility-scale BESS, solar, substation, high-voltage, or related construction management experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean-shaven, long sleeves, steel-toe boots).
  • Pass a physical exam if required.
  • Able to:
    • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces (e.g., towers, vessels, excavations).
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (Use assistance for heavier loads).
    • Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).

Work Environment

Work Location: Industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shops.

Mobility Barriers:

  • Confined workspaces

Environmental Conditions:

  • Predominantly outdoor work
  • Exposure to:
    • Extreme heat or cold
    • Humidity, rain, and other weather conditions
    • Loud noise from tools and machinery
    • Potential chemical exposure

Pay

$90,000 - $110,000 per year (full-time schedule). Primoris Renewable Energy reserves the right to adjust pay based on circumstances unrelated to an applicant’s protected status.
