Scope of Position

Responsible for direct supervision of all phases of pipe installation including underground pipe routing, flange install, and experience with stainless steel and chemical piping. Obtain successful cost results with respect to labor and equipment utilization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Pre-Plans and schedules activity on a daily basis and weekly basis as required.
  • Supervise measurement of materials or distances, using square, measuring tape, or rule to lay out work.
  • Knowledge and comprehension of blueprints.
  • Verify lay out for pump pads, pipe hangers and supports.
  • Supervise equipment placement and use of various lifting devices.
  • Supervise demo of existing equipment and pipe(s).
  • Conduct test on new pipe and assist on equipment start up procedures.
  • Verify slopes for conformance to requirements.
  • Supervise the install or repair of sanitary or storm-water sewer structures or pipe systems.
  • Supervise alignment and position of pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
  • Supervises and works with crew members as needed.
  • Notify project team of any errors or omissions, and any concerns related to safety and or quality.
  • Knowledge in rigging and signaling.
  • Competent Person for Confined Space.
  • Thorough knowledge of Excavating and the use of Trench Boxes.
  • Working knowledge of Restrained Pressure Pipe.
  • Travel as required.
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed.
  • Supervises others.

Education & Years of Experience

Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience. Minimum of two years supervisory experience in similar facility construction.

Qualifications

  • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, or other structures.
  • Design - Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Mechanical - Basic knowledge of machines, pumps, piping systems and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, team members may be required to visit alternate locations and therefore must have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to do so. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The team member is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
