Mechanical Equipment Engineer Intern

Merrick & Company seeks a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate or graduate student for a paid Summer 2027 Internship in our Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. Responsibilities

• Gain technical experience in detailed machine design and fabrication
• 3D modeling in CREO (Pro/Engineer)
• Drawing creation in CREO
• Material selection
• Calculations in Mathcad and CREO Simulation
• Piping systems
• Exposure to ASME NQA-1 quality requirements
• Collaborate with other disciplines, interface with engineers, designers, and clients
• Follow schedules and budget commitments
• Work independently and in a team environment

Requirements

• Graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible
• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program
• Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to problem solve
• U.S. Citizenship required for client projects

Skills

• Creo (strongly preferred)
• SolidWorks, Revit, CADworx or other 3D modeling packages
• Previous internship in Mechanical Engineering
