Mechanical Engineering - Project Manager
About the role
The Project Manager reports to a Managing Director or Director and is responsible for monitoring and tracking project progress, aged accounts, invoices, and budget and for overall project performance and profitability. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Manages the full scope of work, from preparing the proposal through construction.
- Responsible for marketing to prospective clients and building, maintaining, and managing client relationships.
- Maintains and tracks overall project schedule as well as creating and maintaining a task-specific two-three week lookahead.
- Communicates and coordinates project requirements with the project team and consultants.
- Oversees all technical aspects of facility projects, reviewing all documents for quality control and assurance, and coordinating engineers and sub-consultants.
- Designs and manages facilities engineering projects, ensuring design effort completeness and accuracy.
- Ensures design effort completeness and accuracy for various design elements to complete a project, system, component, or system with other team members with clear and specified objectives involving conventional plans, surveys, investigations, structures, and equipment.
- Prepares complete project documentation to include plans, specifications, and engineer estimates, including collecting, assembling, and organizing project data.
- Works on multiple projects of moderate to large size using time efficiently to stay within budget and timely delivery.
- Develops proposals, including bid documents, project reports, studies, and other documentation.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments/projects.
- Collaborates with other internal departments and disciplines participating in the project.
- Safeguards project engineering activities compliance with firm and contract requirements and supports overall project schedule, scope, and budget.
- Interprets contract specifications and resolves conflicts with contractors on such matters as interpretation of specifications, workmanship, quality of materials, and related issues.
- Prepares monthly project status reports and change orders.
- Participates in client/contractor meetings and resolves client, engineering, and management project issues.
- Prepares project scopes, tasks, budgets, and schedules.
- Led, taught, coached, and trained subordinates in a professional contractual relationship with all parties involved with the project.
- Reviews project budget with the Senior Project Manager regularly.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of applicable building codes, zoning codes, and approval processes.
- Experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage and build teams effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious.
- Attuned to other areas related to the total project: structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and site requirements.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel, with a working knowledge of the current version of AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with engineering software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- 10+ years of experience.
- PE license is preferred.

Pay
Where required by applicable law, the pay range for this position is provided in the job posting. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, education, internal equity, geographic location, and business needs. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and or benefits in accordance with applicable plans and policies.
Schedule
This position may require physical mobility on and around active construction sites before and after installation of infrastructure and site improvements.
