Mechanical Engineering Intern

Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Facility Solutions Division in Plainville, CT. This internship provides hands-on experience in mechanical system design for a variety of building types, working within our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) team. Interns will support the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, and energy systems for commercial, institutional, and public-sector facilities. This is a paid internship. This opportunity is ideal for students who are interested in learning how building systems are designed and integrated into functional, sustainable environments. What You’ll Do Assist with the design and layout of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systemsSupport the preparation of construction drawings and specificationsConduct field surveys of existing building systems and document findingsPerform basic engineering calculations under supervisionUse AutoCAD, Revit, and other design and modeling toolsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams on real project deliverablesParticipate in team meetings and client coordination as needed Who You Are Curious and eager to apply classroom learning to real-world design challengesTechnically minded with strong attention to detailEffective communicator with a collaborative attitudeResponsible and open to learning in a fast-paced environmentEnthusiastic about creating sustainable, functional spaces through mechanical design What You Bring Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 3.0 GPAInterest in building systems and facility designFamiliarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools is a plusStrong communication skills and attention to detailWillingness to learn in a collaborative, fast-paced environmentPrior internship or project experience related to MEP systems is a plus Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. is a full-service, employee-owned multidisciplinary consulting firm with operations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Missouri.
