About the role

As a proactive member of the Mechanical Engineering Team, the Mechanical Engineer II will lead and execute engineering projects, ensuring quality, innovation, and timely delivery. This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and strong communication skills to coordinate with Project Management, Fabrication, Assembly, and other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all Mechanical Engineering team meetings to support and improve the department.
  • Collaborate with the Mechanical Engineering Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineers on all designs to foster consistency and follow good manufacturing practices.
  • Support light system engineering development, including approval drawing processes and equipment interfaces.
  • Research, plan, develop, and design fabricated and purchased components (e.g., motors, gearboxes, bearings, structural materials).
  • Create production drawings, including detail, assembly, weldment, installation, and modification drawings.
  • Release engineering information to Manufacturing via the ERP system.
  • Support Fabrication and Assembly departments in troubleshooting.
  • Travel to jobsites as required to gather information for project execution.
  • Provide customer support via phone, email, or web to troubleshoot designs and equipment.
  • Support the Innovation Center Team.

  • Project budgets are maintained or beaten.
  • Project schedules are maintained or beaten.
  • High-quality designs and drawings are released to manufacturing and assembly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives while concurrently working on projects.
  • Foster a positive, team-based culture within the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in automation or manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and 2D CAD.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fundamental mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in a project-driven environment with tight schedules and budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Skills

  • Proficient SolidWorks and 2D CAD skills.
  • Full-time in-office role with occasional remote work.
