Job Summary

Talen Energy is seeking a Mechanical System Engineer to join the team at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station near Berwick, Pennsylvania. The station generates approximately 2700 MW of electricity and is part of Talen Energy, a leading competitive energy company.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs.
• Develop and implement trending and monitoring plans for assigned systems/components to ensure safe and reliable equipment performance.
• Demonstrate ownership of assigned systems/components and advocate for system performance improvement opportunities.
• Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
• Uses existing procedures to investigate, evaluate, and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems.
• Directly interface with other workgroups (Operations, Maintenance) and Station Leadership regarding system issues and improvement initiatives.
• Builds relationships that facilitate knowledge transfer, cross-functional knowledge of related work groups, and effective presentation of work products.
• Affords assistance in various topics such as developing procedures, improved design recommendations, or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.
• Routinely reviews industry operating experience and collaborates with industry peers and forums to effectively apply 'lessons learned' for improving system performance and reliability.

Basic Qualifications

• Engineer BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access
• Minimum of five years related mechanical engineering experience in nuclear or relevant industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous commercial nuclear experience
• Familiarity with design requirements for Nuclear Power plants
• Professional Engineer Registration
