Mechanical Engineer, Senior

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems, and to investigate, evaluate and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems.
• Determine theoretical principles involved and apply advanced analytical and investigative methods and techniques.
• Analyze assigned tasks to provide estimates of manpower and material required to complete.
• Prepare schedules for accomplishing tasks within estimates.
• Supervise and coordinate technicians in fabrication and installation of complex mechanical and related electronic equipment and systems.
• May direct field operation and maintenance activities of mechanical equipment/systems installations.
• Evaluate operational systems and design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.
• Develop new applications requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity, and complex test procedures for equipment and systems which are significantly different from existing designs.
• Plan, organize and conduct the development of each assignment; coordinate manpower assigned to each activity and coordinate the activities of group involved in various stages of overall program to ensure effective integration.
• Provide technical guidance to personnel involved with producing design fabrication drawings.
• Review and correct drawings to ensure proper engineering techniques and required specifications have been utilized.
• Develop, release and maintain documentation in accordance with company and contractual requirements.
• Review, write and edit reports such as evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, etc. to provide recommendations, conclusions, and other data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or Computer Science.
• Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance. U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
• Five years experience with ship alterations engineering requirements.
• Seven years of collective experience in:
  • Modeling and simulation of new designs as well as facilitating changes to existing designs using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) tools and software.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
  • Weight & Moment analysis.
  • Static analysis.
  • Commercial and military specification material selection.
  • Materials alternatives analysis.

Pay & Benefits

Salary range: USD $125,000/Yr. - USD $145,000/Yr. Benefits include healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans, insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
