About the role
JACOBS has an immediate opportunity for an On-Site Mechanical Engineer at our project near Baton Rouge, LA.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary on-site representative for HVAC, cooling, piping, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
- Perform daily site observations and assess installation progress and workmanship.
- Cookordinate mechanical design clarifications and field solutions with project stakeholders.
- Facilitate responses to RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field conflicts.
- Support reviews of equipment layouts, utility routing, and coordination between trades.
- Participate in constructability reviews, BIM coordination activities, and mockup evaluations.
- Identify and document mechanical installation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Support factory testing, bench testing, startup activities, and commissioning preparation.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to resolve installation issues.
- Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
- Issue weekly reports summarizing observations, risks, corrective actions, and schedule impacts.
- Proactively identify design, quality, and schedule risks and support resolution strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations experience; or 5+ years in hyperscale data center environments.
- Experience with chilled water systems, cooling plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, piping systems, and mission-critical environments.
- Strong understanding of specifications, codes, and industry standards.
- Ability to evaluate field conditions and provide practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $95,200.00 to $130,900.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
