Mechanical Engineer - New Berlin, WI

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing cranes, material handling equipment, and other devices using SolidWorks. They will also design mechanical drive systems, develop Bills of Materials (BOM), and provide technical support.

Responsibilities

• Design cranes, material handling equipment and other devices in Solidworks.
• Ability to design mechanical drive systems and perform initial sizing calculations to properly apply motors, gearboxes, couplings, and other mechanical components.
• Precisely follow customer specifications and industry codes from many different countries.
• Annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 weld symbols, ANSI machining symbols and other standardized signs.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) to itemize all the components of the mechanical design.
• Collaborate with other disciplines such as electrical, structural, civil, installation crew, etc., to facilitate turn-key projects.
• Perform design changes to existing equipment for customers who want to upgrade their material handling devices.
• Provide phone support and technical assistance when asked by the installation crew or customers.
• Develop detailed technical specifications and procedures for customer use.
• Optimize bridge girders, trolleys, and other crane components by working in an interactive Team environment to reduce costs and improve delivery schedules.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of five years of related experience.
• Computer literacy in Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of ASME, AISC, and CMAA.
• Experience with SolidWorks or Pro-E.
• Able to travel both domestically and internationally, including entry to nuclear power plants.
