About the role
We are seeking an experienced Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be to design, model, analyze, prototype, and develop opto-mechanical systems with expertise in laser, imaging, illumination, and precision optical mounting techniques. This role is ideal for someone with a background in the medical device industry.
Responsibilities
- Design, model, and analyze precision opto-mechanical and structural assemblies
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure product, process, and test method validation
- Develop a manufacturing validation strategy and document design, development, and validation processes
- Create detailed design packages for vendors, including optical and mechanical drawings with specifications and tolerance analysis
- Provide innovative solutions and support to achieve design project milestones
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in the medical device industry preferred
- Strong working knowledge of optical design, enclosures, structural, mechanical, heat transfer, scanner systems, precision machined components, die cast, and plastics
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools, FEA, and GD&T Tolerance Analysis
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex design and engineering problems independently
- Experience with FDA and international ISO regulations pertaining to design control requirements for medical devices
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience
- Experience with opto-mechanical design for diode lasers and LED and UV light sources
- Experience with Optical Coherence Tomography, 3D and scanning imaging, ophthalmic microscope systems, ultrasound imaging, and probe design
- Experience with manufacturing process development for medical equipment
- Experience with design control, verification and validation, and design transfer
- Experience with highly regulated industries
- Ability to work in a team environment
