About the role

We are seeking an experienced Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be to design, model, analyze, prototype, and develop opto-mechanical systems with expertise in laser, imaging, illumination, and precision optical mounting techniques. This role is ideal for someone with a background in the medical device industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and analyze precision opto-mechanical and structural assemblies
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure product, process, and test method validation
  • Develop a manufacturing validation strategy and document design, development, and validation processes
  • Create detailed design packages for vendors, including optical and mechanical drawings with specifications and tolerance analysis
  • Provide innovative solutions and support to achieve design project milestones
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the medical device industry preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of optical design, enclosures, structural, mechanical, heat transfer, scanner systems, precision machined components, die cast, and plastics
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools, FEA, and GD&T Tolerance Analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex design and engineering problems independently
  • Experience with FDA and international ISO regulations pertaining to design control requirements for medical devices

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience
  • Experience with opto-mechanical design for diode lasers and LED and UV light sources
  • Experience with Optical Coherence Tomography, 3D and scanning imaging, ophthalmic microscope systems, ultrasound imaging, and probe design
  • Experience with manufacturing process development for medical equipment
  • Experience with design control, verification and validation, and design transfer
  • Experience with highly regulated industries
  • Ability to work in a team environment
