Job Responsibilities
- Represent the Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members.
- Design large projects, prepare reports and specifications, and provide technical leadership.
- Assists senior engineer and/or senior designer in project scheduling, manpower requirements, and budgets.
- Process RFI’s, Change Orders, Bulletins, and Addenda.
- Create basic designs and develop specifications, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes.
- Ensure and oversee the Quality Assurance/Quality Control process for your work and the work of others.
- Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks, including conducting field inspections and writing detailed inspection reports.
- Represent Syska Hennessy Group and interact effectively with the internal design team and external clients and consultants.
- Participate in various trade organizations and prepare presentations.
- Manage CAD/BIM and other technical staff as directed by the senior engineer and/or senior designer.
- Assist with employee reviews as requested.
- Estimate construction costs and evaluate feasibility of construction using ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude).
- Write engineering proposals under the direction of a senior engineer or senior designer for projects.
Job Requirements
- A current EIT and/or PE registration as a Mechanical Engineer with a solid, and stable work track record.
- Experience working in a consulting firm, preferably with a focus on mechanical systems for various building types including commercial, mixed-use, mission critical, life science, and R+D facilities.
- LEED AP accreditation, highly preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 3.5+ - 7+ or *+ years of experience working in a consulting firm.
- Strong coordination skills between mechanical systems and architectural, structural, electrical, and telecom systems, as well as constructability and cost.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT experience.
- EIT/FE required; PE preferred.
