About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 to join our dynamic team managing and supporting over 1 billion square feet of commercial and industrial facility space. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, routine inspections, troubleshooting, and general repairs on facility equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities on facility and building equipment in accordance with established procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
- Conduct routine "shift rounds" and inspections of facility systems and equipment to identify operational issues, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
- Maintain building systems and equipment reliability while ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for building occupants.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, facility occupants, vendors, and team members.
- Support a customer-focused environment by responding promptly and professionally to maintenance concerns.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, follow OSHA regulations, and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with monitoring subcontractors performing facility services and maintenance activities.
- Support special projects, facility improvements, and operational initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Trade school, vocational training, technical certification, or related coursework preferred.
- MA Refrigeration Journeyman License required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Forklift, aerial lift, scissor lift, OSHA, or trade certifications are a plus.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret safety procedures, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and work orders.
- Ability to prepare routine reports, maintenance documentation, and professional correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, coworkers, and management.
- Ability to calculate measurements, percentages, proportions, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply basic algebraic and geometric concepts to maintenance and repair activities.
- Ability to solve practical problems involving multiple variables in environments with limited standardization.
- Basic understanding of commercial building systems and maintenance practices.
- Ability to use hand tools and small power tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repair techniques.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and corrective repairs on building systems and equipment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, aerial lifts, and similar equipment after training and certification.
- Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, tablets, email systems, and CMMS software.
- Ability to learn and apply manufacturer maintenance procedures and facility operating standards.
