Job Summary
Vast is seeking a Thermal Control Systems Mechanical Engineer to support the development of thermal control systems for artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. The ideal candidate will report to the Manager, Thermal Control Hardware and will be based in Long Beach, CA.
About the Role
The Thermal Control Systems Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in designing and implementing thermal control systems necessary for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This includes understanding and optimizing heat transfer mechanisms, ensuring thermal comfort and safety for crew members, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal control systems into the overall station design.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize thermal control systems for artificial-gravity environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal control systems into the overall station design
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to thermal control systems
- Contribute to the development of thermal control system specifications and requirements
- Perform thermal analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance
- Develop and maintain thermal control system documentation and technical reports
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in thermal control systems engineering
- Experience with thermal management systems for spacecraft and/or artificial-gravity environments
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer principles and fluid dynamics
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
