Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 Job Summary The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for researching, planning, and designing stations and machines using calculations, mechanical principals, and proven practices to create semi/fully automated assembly and test systems. See your design from concept to completion Major Duties & Responsibilities Essential Functions Researches and analyzes data such as customer request for quote, customer specifications, and PMD’s proposal to develop or determine feasibility of design or application.Work within design hour constraints, schedule constraints, and overall machine budget constraints.Work in a collaborative environment to make sure the designs developed are the most cost effective and will meet the customer’s requirements.Develop/review concepts to confirm the design will meet required performance metrics including cycle time, yield, uptime, CPK and Gage R&R.Design mechanisms, stations, machines using 3D modeling software (SolidWorks).Works with vendors to obtain competitive quotes for major purchased components.Create detailed fabrication drawings for all custom designed parts.Create detailed assembly drawings identifying each individual componentCreate a complete Bill of Material for each design/station.Release completed designs to Project ManagementOccasionally acts as Project Engineer on smaller projectsSupports fabrication, assembly, debug and machine qualification activities to ensure design conforms to customer requirements and specificationsObserve safety procedure Experience Minimum Skills & Abilities 5 or more years’ experience in an automation related field, preferred.Proficient in Solidworks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel.General knowledge of GD&T, EPDM and Jig and Fixture design.Occasionally required to travel up to 5%. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Effective verbal and written communication.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures.Ability to read, write and analyze technical reports.Ability to calculate engineering formulas including deflection, moment of inertia, stress, along with applying concepts of algebra and geometry.OrganizedDetail orientedAbility to work independently and to collaborate on a teamCreative/InnovativeTime management skillsAbility to take directionApproachableMentor to new employeesAbility to apply mechanical engineering principals.Ability to interpret instructions which are written, oral or drawn.Ability to concept mechanism and stations.A variety of duties requiring judgment to devise new designs or adapt or change standard designs.Make decisions to drive the design direction.
