About the role

The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development, and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. Within Hardware Engineering, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical and electrical design, development, and integration of undersea sensors, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
  • Support the factory and suppliers with product integration.
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Validate design fit and functionality by rapid prototyping and/or simulation.
  • Participate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
  • Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Engineering Science, Physics, Math, or related (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience with CAD modeling software.
  • Experience with PTC CREO and PDM. Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance is required. Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the specification, design, development, production, and testing of undersea systems and electronics packaging.
  • Knowledge of design for long-term submergence, sealing, and corrosion resistance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a team.
  • Experience on DoD programs.
  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T.

Pay

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
