About the role

RTX’s Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the design, development, and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, missile, and combat system equipment. The Radar Mechanical Design Department focuses on mechanical design, development, and integration of innovative land-based and shipboard radars, including phased array radar systems, hardware integration, electronic modules, pedestal, and power and cooling systems.

This position is for a Mechanical Engineer II who will support design, development, and production of radars and supporting structures, electronic modules, power, and cooling sub-systems. The role is based in Marlborough, MA, and requires an active or obtainable DoD Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design and documentation of hardware and systems using engineering tools and MS Office suite.
  • Contribute as part of a small team during product development, part and drawing creation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation.
  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to solve complex design problems and make data-driven technical conclusions in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Provide factory and supplier support.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, designers, structural/thermal analysts, and engineers from other disciplines to meet business objectives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) related major by start date.
  • Experience with CAD software, specifically CREO (experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team settings (e.g., class projects, internships, or academic research).
  • Strong aptitude for disciplined process execution with flexibility to adapt processes as needed.
  • Proven ability to apply academic engineering principles to resolve design challenges.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering design processes.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Tolerance Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels. RTX considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
