Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and test new and current products.
  • Participate in research and development activities, including design reviews, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), MRB, value engineering (VAVE), and validation testing.
  • Provide technical support to other departments within the organization.
  • Review and approve work completed by others.
  • Plan, design, and document new products by performing calculations; creating layouts, drawings, programs, test procedures, work instructions, manuals, and bills of material; and qualifying new parts and processes (capability analysis, verification/validation).
  • Present project updates to senior management.
  • Investigate and create engineering change requests to improve products, correct errors, support production, and reduce costs.
  • Modify existing product documentation to implement change requests, support R&D activities, or address customer concerns.
  • Perform First Article Approvals on internal and external components and products.
  • Communicate testing requirements, conduct final reviews, and document all testing performed on mechanical or electro-mechanical designs.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed technical understanding of fluid metering processes and technologies.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with manufacturing methods and procedures, manufacturing quality, and product development.
  • Proficiency in parametric CAD software (preferably SolidWorks and/or Creo) and the ability to demonstrate competency.
  • Ability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of drafting standards and GD&T.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (BSME, MSME, or BSMS).
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, use tools, and perform repetitive actions requiring frequent bending and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts.

Travel

  • Up to 10% domestic travel may be required.

  • The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical and electro-mechanical products that support Advanced Flow Solutions’ fluid-metering technologies.
  • This role leads technical design work, documentation, testing, and validation activities while providing engineering expertise across the organization.
  • The position ensures product performance, quality, and manufacturability through collaboration with cross-functional teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
