About the role

The Mechanical Engineer II supports existing products through their product life cycle and assists in the development of new products for both domestic and global markets. The role works cross-functionally with Regulatory, Marketing, Quality Control, Operations, and other business areas to drive innovation through design controls, product changes, product support, and continuous improvement. The position requires knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, concepts, and procedures, as well as strong communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products in a fast-paced cross-functional environment.
• Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes.
• Prepare project documents for a variety of audiences.
• Interpret legacy designs and perform sustaining engineering activities.
• Assist with regulatory tasks and integrate requirements into projects.
• Manage projects with international design teams and vendors.
• Work collaboratively in cross-functional groups to develop and lead mechanical designs.
• Interface with manufacturing, sub-contractors, and suppliers in design transfer and technical support.
• Design and fabricate test parts, equipment, and jigs with basic machine tools.
• Educate, mentor, and manage mechanical co-ops and interns.
• Develop project specifications with cross-functional team members.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews.
• Develop and write test protocols.
• Facilitate the Engineering Change Notification (ECN) process for cross-functional teams.
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
• Participate and/or train in Envista Business System (EBS) activities.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• 3+ years’ experience in design and manufacturing OR Master's degree with 2+ years’ experience.
• 2+ years of 3D design and 2D printmaking with tools such as SolidWorks (preferred), Creo, etc.
• Experience using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Excellent written and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a regulated industry (medical, aerospace, automotive).
• 3+ years of hands-on testing, prototyping, and troubleshooting of mechanical designs, products, or fixtures.
• Intermediate knowledge of materials properties and associated processing techniques (plastic injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal forming/stamping, etc.).
• Basic familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) including tolerancing, process analysis, and collaboration with production.
• Experience with basic machine shop equipment (vertical mill, band saw, etc.).
• Experience in Design Control/DFM/GMP/FDA/ISO 9001/ISO 13485 standards.
• Experience with rapid prototyping (FDM/SLA 3D printing).

Pay

$93,800 - $113,300

Schedule

The position is located at the Quakertown facility, the North American hub for design and manufacturing of leading dental imaging devices and software. The facility is situated on the southern edge of the Lehigh Valley and is easily accessible from northern Philadelphia suburbs and surrounding areas.
