Responsibilities
- Design opto-mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosures for liquid chromatography and light scattering instruments.
- Develop precision mechanical structures for optical alignment, thermal management, and fluidics integration.
- Support product lifecycle from concept, prototyping, V&V, and design transfer.
- Perform mechanical testing, tolerance analysis, and DOE-based validation.
- Ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability of designs.
- Create CAD models and drawings using Autodesk Inventor (or equivalent).
- Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and maintain design documentation.
- Support engineering change orders (ECOs) and design reviews.
- Work with EE, optics, and system engineers for integration.
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2–5 years in precision instrumentation, opto-mechanical systems, or similar.
- Strong CAD skills (Inventor/SolidWorks).
- GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection.
- Experience with optics packaging and alignment preferred.
- Familiarity with thermal and structural simulation tools.
- Preferred: Experience with analytical instruments.
- Hands-on lab and prototyping skills.
