Mechanical Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Design of new products and test hardware
• Improvement of existing products
• Utilize mechanical engineering expertise during proposal and concept generation, product development, production, and qualification testing phases
• Develop creative solutions meeting product requirements
• Leverage 3D modeling and drafting skills
• Support production, integration, and testing
• Engage with vendors, manufacturers, and SMEs for design decisions
• Participate in design reviews at part, subsystem, and system levels
• Work closely with systems, electrical, test, and production engineers
• Leverage strong verbal and written communication skills
• Enjoy working on-site and embrace challenges

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM degree program
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD Secret level clearance
• Hands-on experience with mechanical components and assemblies
• Familiarity with 3-D CAD modeling tools (CREO preferred)
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Self-starter with good time management skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Minimum 2 years professional work experience, including internships
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5 standards)
• Knowledge of aerospace materials and coatings
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, water jet, laser, welding, EDM, additive manufacturing, etc.
• Working knowledge of data management systems (Windchill preferred)
