On-siteEngineering$120k–$140k/yrFull-time

Longshot Space Technologies is at the cutting edge of low-cost space access and hypersonics. We are developing a novel space launch system that accelerates mass over a long distance. Using our technology, we plan to provide affordable launch services for satellites, cargo, and future space infrastructure. Our mission is to enable a future where humans can reach for the stars.

About the role

We're seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our core engineering team, supporting the design, development, and testing of hardware critical to our kinetic launch technology. You'll work across high-pressure gas systems, thermal protection systems, and structures, building and refining the hardware that powers our launch and vehicle platforms. This is a hands-on role with real growth potential on both technical and leadership tracks. You'll work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams spanning mechanical, electrical, fluids, and aerospace engineering, gaining exposure across the full system rather than a single narrow slice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, testing, and integration of all systems for the accelerator and vehicle.
  • Contribute to design, manufacture, and test for key subsystems.
  • Participate in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting hardware in lab and field environments.
  • Support development and debugging of embedded firmware within our data acquisition systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for electronic and firmware systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure electrical systems meet performance and reliability goals.
  • Support integration of electrical systems with mechanical, fluids, and software components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering preferred.
  • 0-2 years experience in a hands-on test, design, manufacturing or R&D setting.
  • Experience with high-pressure gas/fluid systems in excess of 500 psi in large volumes.
  • Exposure to hydrogen safety, rocket test, or propulsion lab environments a bonus.
  • Strong organizational and executional skills, including documentation and planning.
  • Passion for learning, problem solving, and working as part of a fast-moving team.

To comply with U.S. Government export regulations, applicants must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and paid sick leave
  • Equity opportunities
  • Professional development opportunities
  • 90-day integration period

Pay
