About the role
We are adding a Mechanical Engineer–MEP to our teams in Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Fullerton, CA; and Lexington, KY. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design efforts for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and building codes.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutions.
- Perform advanced heating/cooling load calculations and energy code compliance assessments.
- Collaborate with the owner and project team to ensure systems are cost-effective and explore value engineering options.
- Use BIM and AutoCAD to incorporate designs into project models and drawings.
- Select and specify mechanical equipment; design air distribution and piping systems.
- Develop control drawings and system diagrams.
- Update and maintain engineering design standards.
- Perform and document design calculations to ensure compliance with applicable codes and client specifications.
- Conduct quality control reviews of design documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to meet project schedules and deliver complete, coordinated design packages.
- Review and respond to contractor RFIs, shop drawings, and product submittals, ensuring design intent is maintained.
- Participate in client meetings and design reviews, providing technical input and supporting project delivery.
- Support the development and refinement of internal design standards and best practices.
- Assist in mentoring junior engineers and designers, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited college or university.
- Professional Engineering License is required.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical design within industrial or commercial projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam and 3D building modeling software (e.g., Revit) and experience with BIM workflows.
- Demonstrated experience with building codes and standards (IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA), and client-specific design requirements.
- Ability to perform load calculations and cost analysis using appropriate software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for system analysis, cost modeling, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring junior engineers and managing design teams.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Periodic overnight travel to visit jobsites where the ability to traverse undeveloped terrain may be required.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands or arms, and talk or hear.
- May occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
- Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled.
- Overtime may be required.
