Mechanical Engineer Group Lead
About the Role
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer Group Lead to join our talented team at our office located in Cary, North Carolina.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership of technical discipline and direct the day-to-day operational activities of the department.
- Ensure the delivery of target gross margin profits of the department.
- Manage staffing activities, including recruiting, retention, and development of department staff.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of overall work, including engineering and compliance with IPS standards, procedures, codes, and ordinances.
- Oversee technical output to assure compliance with legal, IPS, and project requirements.
- Develop and implement standards and tools to meet or exceed quality and performance expectations.
- Oversee manpower planning and assign resources efficiently across multiple, concurrent projects.
- Prepare proposals for services and support business development activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Professional with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of diversified engineering experience, with at least 10 years in a supervisory or management role involving planning, designing, and construction of engineering projects.
- Progressive ability in administration, planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating technical work.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to travel 5-20% as required by projects, including potential extended stays at client sites.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift up to 25 pounds, and climb ladders.
- Willingness to work in indoor and outdoor environments, adhere to cleanroom gowning protocols, and follow safety rules at client sites.
