Mechanical Engineer (Design)

About the Role

The Specialist, Mechanical Engineer (Design) designs detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment, and mechanical systems. They apply engineering principles and structural analysis to support integrated system design, ensuring designs meet requirements at minimal cost.

Responsibilities

• Develop layouts and prepare engineering drawings
• Coordinate with multiple departments to review and approve designs
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback into design iterations
• Utilize 3D CAD tools for modeling aircraft systems and platforms
• Ensure timely delivery, track budgets, and manage project aspects
• Operate in aircraft production settings, including the flight line and on-aircraft work

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years or a graduate degree with 2+ years of aerospace mechanical design experience, or 8+ years of experience without a degree
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX/Unigraphics preferred)
• U.S. citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance

Preferred Skills

• Active Secret Clearance
• Familiarity with aircraft systems, structural repairs, STCs, and general modifications
• Strong communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Work Environment

Able to operate in aircraft production settings, including moving around the flight line and working on aircraft as needed.
