Responsibilities

  • Design and document mechanical and MEP systems for mission critical facilities and data centers, including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling plants, plumbing, building automation systems, and control systems.
  • Support the development of resilient and energy-efficient infrastructure for high-performance facilities with a focus on uptime, redundancy, N+1 design, high availability, operational continuity, and energy efficiency.
  • Produce drawings, specifications, diagrams, 3D models, sequences of operation, and technical reports aligned with project goals and client expectations.
  • Perform engineering calculations including cooling load analysis, airflow analysis, energy modeling, equipment sizing, psychrometric analysis, and system redundancy evaluations.
  • Coverage of cooling systems, power infrastructure coordination, white space planning, and high-density mechanical infrastructure.
  • Apply building codes, ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and industry best practices to deliver compliant and functional solutions.
  • Participation in client meetings, technical design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination efforts.
  • Collaboration with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and owners to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  • Support QA/QC efforts and construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, commissioning coordination, site observations, and mechanical system startup support.
  • Leadership in project documentation efforts, mentoring junior staff, and overseeing project deliverables (mid- and senior-level roles).

Requirements

  • Entry-Level / EIT: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Engineer in Training / EIT certification, FE exam passed is preferred but not required. 0–3 years of experience. Interest or internship exposure in HVAC, mission critical systems, or building infrastructure preferred.
  • Mid-Level Engineer: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. FE exam passed and actively pursuing Professional Engineer / PE licensure preferred. 4+ years of progressive experience in mechanical system design. Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts and coordinate small to mid-scale projects. Experience with mission critical, data center, industrial, or high-performance facility projects is highly desirable.
  • Senior-Level Engineer: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Active Professional Engineer / PE license required. 10+ years of progressive experience leading mechanical design and multidisciplinary coordination. Experience leading mission critical or data center projects, including redundant cooling systems and high-availability infrastructure, is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Revit, BIM coordination, energy modeling, HVAC analysis software, Microsoft Office, and mechanical system documentation preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building systems, MEP documentation, interdisciplinary coordination, building codes, ASHRAE standards, and construction administration.
  • Experience in mission critical, data center, hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, edge computing, industrial, or high-performance facility projects is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with chilled water systems, direct expansion systems, CRAH units, CRAC units, cooling towers, air handling units, economizers, redundancy strategies, commissioning, thermal management, critical infrastructure, liquid cooling, and energy-efficient HVAC design is a plus.
