About the role

We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it. We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack.

We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI. We hire people who care deeply about this problem space.

How We Operate

We operate with extreme ownership, full autonomy, and a focus on velocity. We challenge every assumption, think from first principles, and prioritize the best idea. We're driven by a love of the game and the desire to push the frontier of AI forward.

The Data Center Design Team

The Data Center Design Team is working on key problems such as leading the design, development, and execution of 10s to 100s of GWs of data centers, driving the next generation of liquid cooling and electrical distribution systems, and developing and scaling first-of-a-kind modular data centers.

Role Scope

As a member of the Data Center Design Team, you will own mechanical systems end to end for AI-optimized, high-density data centers, from early concept and analytical modeling through final build and deployment. You will lead the design and evolution of mechanical and cooling systems as Fluidstack scales to multiple gigawatts, develop and maintain modular mechanical templates, and serve as the technical interface between internal teams and external consultants.

What We're Looking For

  • Ownership of mechanical design for data centers or high-density facilities, from concept and modeling through build
  • Experience designing cooling systems for AI-class density and thinking in modular, repeatable templates
  • Ability to manage external consultants and act as the technical bridge to internal strategy
  • Design expertise with supply chain and constructability in mind
  • Desire for full ownership of the mechanical lifecycle at gigawatt scale
  • Bonus: PE license, direct-to-chip or liquid cooling design, modular or prefab template programs, CFD (6SigmaET, Icepak), and ASHRAE TC 9.9 experience

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity)
  • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms

Pay

Compensation Range: $169K - $193K
