Operations Engineering at DCS encompasses Project and Mechanical Engineers that perform all engineering activities from receipt of contract through commissioning and close-out of a project. We pride ourselves on creativity, problem-solving, solid engineering techniques, and getting stuff done.

About the Role

• Apply your knowledge of engineering principles and materials to detail all aspects of material handling systems.
• Create drawing sets that communicate the design to all stakeholders, including customers during firm engineering, building officials for permitting, and suppliers and subcontractors for their design and installation.
• Contribute to a project team and report to an engineering manager.
• Periodically take an active role in person when working with customers during design.

We’ll appreciate your methodical approach, solid technical know-how, and attention to detail in your work. In this role, you will…

• Review and apply customer specifications to design
• Review architectural and other drawings against conveyance design to check for interferences and ensure clearance requirements are met
• Participate in firm engineering meetings with the customers and suppliers; may lead technical discussion during these meetings
• Support in person meetings with customers or vendors near the DCS office (Franklin, TN) and occasionally in a customer’s office or job site
• Create detailed mechanical installation drawings
• Create detailed Bills of Material for purchasing equipment
• Create point load drawings when required
• Verify calculations, such as horsepower and throughput
• Work with vendors to review equipment drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements
• Provide technical guidance during detailed design to best industry standards
• Create and maintain CAD files
• Review and create as-built drawings
• May occasionally design parts or platforms required for material handling system
• Provide other required engineering tasks as necessary
• Travel to job sites to verify field conditions
• Report drawing status to the Project Engineer as required maintaining the project schedule
