Mechanical Engineer - Autonomous Vehicle Platform

Duties

  • Lead the development of ADAS Level 4 Autonomous Vehicle Platform (AVP) systems through the entire product development process from Project Definition to Product Launch.
  • Develop mechanical system concepts to meet vehicle platform requirements and utilize analytical tools to verify a robust design.
  • Utilize DFMEA and DVP tools to mitigate system design risk throughout the concept, design, and validation phases of the program.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date project schedules and develop mitigation plans as needed to meet program milestones.
  • Effectively manage relationships with the autonomous partner and suppliers to ensure information flows smoothly and issues are proactively addressed.
  • Cook regularly during the development process with other PACCAR engineering teams including Embedded software engineering, PACCAR Innovation Center (PIC), and PACCAR Technical Center (PTC).
  • Cook regularly during the development process with cross-functional groups including Product Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and PACCAR Parts.
  • Act in a professional manner in all contacts with external and internal customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with CREO / CREO View / Windchill (or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck components and systems
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks, ability to learn on the fly, and adapt to change
  • Demonstrate professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities
  • Proactive approach to reconciling issues and reaching consensus
  • Strong overall knowledge of PACCAR vehicles
  • Experience with a Phase Gate development process
  • Knowledge in the use of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
