Mechanical Engineer
About the role
The Mechanical Engineer at Salas O’Brien is responsible for developing HVAC systems design for various projects including healthcare, science and technology, education, multi-family, and commercial facilities. They are expected to provide technical leadership, conduct load/energy calculations, write project specifications, and manage multi-discipline design teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop HVAC systems design based on project scope and client requests
- Evaluate and plan mechanical systems for healthcare, science and technology, education, multi-family, and commercial projects
- Perform load/energy calculations using software like Trane 3D Plus and IES
- Develop reports and studies
- Write and edit project specifications
- Conduct existing building surveys and document existing HVAC systems
- Provide construction administration services
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- LEED or similar sustainable design certification/experience
- 3 to 8 years of design experience
- Knowledgeable in HVAC systems design
- Understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines
- Experience as a project manager leading a multi-discipline design team
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office
- Travel 10%

This role offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $120,000 USD per year, with actual compensation determined by a combination of skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits include:

Pay
The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $120,000 USD per year.
Schedule
Full-time position with 10% travel.
