Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer at Salas O’Brien is responsible for developing HVAC systems design for various projects including healthcare, science and technology, education, multi-family, and commercial facilities. They are expected to provide technical leadership, conduct load/energy calculations, write project specifications, and manage multi-discipline design teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC systems design based on project scope and client requests
• Evaluate and plan mechanical systems for healthcare, science and technology, education, multi-family, and commercial projects
• Perform load/energy calculations using software like Trane 3D Plus and IES
• Develop reports and studies
• Write and edit project specifications
• Conduct existing building surveys and document existing HVAC systems
• Provide construction administration services

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• LEED or similar sustainable design certification/experience
• 3 to 8 years of design experience
• Knowledgeable in HVAC systems design
• Understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines
• Experience as a project manager leading a multi-discipline design team

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office
• Travel 10%

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $120,000 USD per year, with actual compensation determined by a combination of skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits include:

Pay

The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $120,000 USD per year.

Schedule

Full-time position with 10% travel.
