About the role

Ramboll is seeking experienced candidates to join the Solutions for Industry group in our Binghamton, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with 4+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems. Experience designing large scale hydronic systems, working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, and a desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segments are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, with a focus on HVAC, industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
  • Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
  • Creating design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
  • Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
  • Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
  • Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
  • Specifying mechanical equipment.
  • Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems.
  • Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
  • Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems.
  • Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer a plus, but not required.
  • Experience designing large scale hydronic systems.
  • Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, including the IFC, NFPA standards and FM Global guidelines.
  • Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segment.
