Mechanical Engineer
Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to ensure site, equipment, and facility processes meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Develop, document, and maintain technical specifications and performance requirements for UF6 (uranium hexafluoride) processing equipment.
- Review vendor designs, drawings, and technical submittals to verify compliance with engineering requirements and operational needs.
- Cook with internal engineering, operations, safety, and compliance teams to support equipment integration and facility readiness.
- Support procurement activities by providing technical input, evaluating vendor proposals, and assisting with supplier selection.
- Participate in design reviews, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities.
- Identify risks, issues, and improvement opportunities related to equipment performance, installation, and facility interfaces.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college.
- Experience working with vendors, suppliers, or contractors to support equipment, facility, or process requirements.
- Ability to develop and interpret engineering specifications, technical requirements, and design documentation.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, safety, procurement).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college.
- Experience in chemical processing, nuclear, industrial manufacturing, or regulated environments.
- Experience supporting equipment installation, testing, commissioning, or acceptance activities.
Location/Work Arrangement
This position will be onsite in Oak Ridge, TN. Schedule is part-time OR full-time. Monday – Friday 30 OR 40-hour week.
