Responsibilities

  • Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; test properties.
  • Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; research and test manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; solicit observations from operators.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
  • Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; test finished-product and system capabilities; confirm fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; request special services.
  • Maintain system and product database by writing computer programs and entering data.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Assess project requirements.
  • Measure the performance of mechanical components, devices, and engines.
  • Approve budgets, costs, timelines, and specifications on new and existing products with clients and product development team.
  • Maintain and modify equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable, and efficient.
  • Use computer-aided design/modelling software.
  • Liaise with suppliers.
  • Undertake relevant research.
  • Produce and implement designs and test procedures.
  • Present designs to managers and clients.
  • Test, evaluate, modify and re-test products.
  • Provide technical advice.
  • Analyze and interpret data.
  • Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement).
  • Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements.
  • Produce outline designs.
  • Test and evaluate theoretical designs.
  • Identify, formulate, and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
  • Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions.
  • Estimate budget and scope of project.
  • Solicit observations from operators.
  • Prepare product reports and documentation.
  • Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods.
  • Manage and work with a small team of toolers for the creation of new products.
  • Work on issues of flow and manufacturing on the production floor.
  • Keep in compliance with the air permitting of the facility.
  • Responsible for all other tasks/duties as assigned or necessary to successfully meet the goals and mission of the organization.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE).
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other).
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar).
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc).
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
