Mechanical Engineer
About the role
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, working through challenging designs, and being part of a team that genuinely supports each other. This is a fully remote opportunity where you’ll stay hands-on with meaningful engineering work while continuing to grow your skillset. In this role, you’ll help drive engineering projects forward—from early problem-solving through design and evaluation—while working on systems that truly matter. You’ll collaborate closely with a strong team, contribute ideas, and play a key role in delivering practical, high-quality solutions to clients in the nuclear energy space.
Responsibilities
- Analyze engineering problems and define performance requirements for systems, components, and processes
- Partner with cross-functional teams to prioritize work and deliver on project goals
- Develop and recommend practical, client-focused solutions
- Review complex calculations, designs, and technical deliverables
- Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems using core engineering principles (mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, etc.)
- Support planning efforts, including scheduling, resource needs, and specialized equipment recommendations
Requirements
- 5–15 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Background in nuclear power plant design
- Strong working knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
- Familiarity with Nuclear Quality Assurance Standards
- Experience with AutoCAD and design work
- BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
Qualifications
- Nice to have: Understanding of Engineering Change Control processes within nuclear utilities
- Ability to build strong working relationships with plant stakeholders and clients
- Strong communication and organization skills—you’re someone people trust and enjoy working with

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $90.00/hr.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL. This is a fully remote position.
