The Impact You'll Make
As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you're designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Your role involves feasibility studies, testing, and guiding teams in detailed design and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging.
What You'll Do
- Support the full life cycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems from concept to productization including conceptualization, designing, CAD modeling, development, and test/validation.
- Design components using variety of metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
- Ensure documentation aligns with SEMI, Lam standards, and industry best practices for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Create engineering requirements from marketing requirements to drive product development.
- Apply proficiency in 3D Nx Tool or equivalent.
- Demonstrate experience in structural, thermal, and fluid delivery systems through theoretical analysis on paper, with multiple completed developments of system design that demonstrate working knowledge and use of thermal and structural FEA modeling.
- Develop system P&ID, define theory of operation for hardware being developed, use key problem solving and decision making tools, and perform risk analysis.
- Juggle multiple projects in parallel as required occasionally.
- Apply extensive hands-on experience.
- Develop and conduct feasibility studies and test plans to characterize and validate design performance.
- Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations to clearly communicate design intent, evaluation, and validation to a diverse audience in design reviews.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure solutions can be manufactured with high-quality, cost-optimized, and to requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 12+ years of experience; or Master's degree with 10+ years' experience.
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Experience in leading projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
Work Location Models
Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
Pay
California San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $146,000.00 - $311,000.00. The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
