About the role

You will be directly applying your knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power plant engineering to support client recommendations and reviews. You will prepare calculations, evaluations, and technical reports, conduct equipment sizing, optimization evaluations, and selections, and collaborate with project teams on system engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare calculations and technical reports to support client recommendations and reviews
  • Conduct equipment sizing, optimization evaluations, and selections in response to project needs
  • Collaborate with project teams on system engineering tasks, including design, modification, and analysis of power plant mechanical systems
  • Support project teams with other Mechanical Engineers
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for meetings and field verification of designs

Requirements

This position requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, power engineering, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and energy conversion. 3 or more years of experience in the power industry are essential.

Qualifications

  • A BS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
  • Strong academic background and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, power engineering, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and energy conversion
  • 3 or more years of experience in the power industry
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Knowledge of the practical application of mechanical engineering and technology, including applying systems, principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to a project design
  • Strong interest in numerical computations and problem-solving
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Skills

We value individuals who are willing or able to solve problems using modern tools, including automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs. Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.

Compensation Range: $74,353 - $113,595
