Description of Work
- Design Development: Help prepare construction drawings, specifications, and calculations that meet codes and engineering standards
- Budget Planning: Assist with preparing project cost estimates and gathering information needed for bidding throughout the design process
- Field Assistance: Support inspection staff by helping look into mechanical issues at correctional facilities and providing basic technical input
- Submittal Review: Review contractor project submittals and provide recommendations for approval, disapproval, or possible alternatives
- CADD Utilization: Use computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software to complete drafting tasks, update design documents, and support engineering work
- Issue Resolution: Identify and solve mechanical or system issues through inspections, investigations, and project review
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Mechanical Engineer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; or Two years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Special Requirements: You must be in possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
- Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
