About the Role
This position performs troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for all phases of the operation. It is a technical career role at Tyson Foods, Inc., requiring proficiency in multiple skill clusters including electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. The ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of management and operations is required.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and maintain electrical controls, fluid power, and mechanical systems.
- Operate and maintain PLC systems and control/data collection instrumentation.
- Apply knowledge of electronic devices such as industrial semiconductors, solid-state drives, and industrial control systems.
- Perform repairs on mechanical systems including bearings, gears, clutches, belts, and seals.
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
- Adhere to electrical safety and lock-out/tag-out processes and procedures.
- Travel 1-5 times per year outside of assigned location.
Requirements
- Training beyond high school, including either an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology or a closely related technical field, or a combination of education and experience (e.g., skilled trade programs, military training).
- Competency in Windows-based software (Outlook, Excel, Word) with strong skills in document organization, templates, and simple queries.
- Proficiency or ability to become proficient in SAP Plant Maintenance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good safety and attendance record with strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated skills in AC/DC circuits and industrial electrical systems.
- Experience with PLC systems, including basic configuration, hardware, relay instructions, timers/counters, data manipulation, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of electronic motor drive technologies (servo-motors, encoders, tachometers, variable frequency drives, stepper systems).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in technical fields or techniques.
- Basic microcomputer skills for understanding microprocessor operation and interfacing.
- Advanced PLC programming, including system configuration, data communications, and program development.
- Training or experience in electronic motor drive technologies (servo, AC variable frequency, AC servo, stepper systems).
Schedule
Overnight shift: 00:00 – 08:30 AM, Monday–Friday, with some Saturdays.
