Mechanical Drafter II with Security Clearance

About the role

At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division at NAS Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and we are currently looking to hire a Mechanical Drafter II.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings/models that include various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse curves, hidden lines, and small or intricate details.
• Use most of the conventional drafting and Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques.
• Must have a working knowledge of the terms and procedures of the occupation.
• Perform arithmetic computations using formulas.
• Perform familiar or recurring work based on assignments given in general terms.
• Make simple revisions to existing drawings or computer models, often assigned with only a verbal explanation of the desired results.
• Produce more complex revisions from sketches, computer models, or specifications that clearly depict the desired product.

Requirements

• A high school diploma (or equivalent) plus successful completion of trade or technical school, or undergraduate or military school course in drafting, mechanical drawing, or engineering drawing.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in performing the stated functions is also required.
• A current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
• U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
• All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Work Conditions

• Conditions will vary but most work will be performed in enclosed buildings.
• Work will include mostly sitting and/or standing, with some walking, lifting and reaching.
• Working hours are 0600-1530 (first shift) and 1300-2230 (2nd Shift).
