Mechanical Drafter

Position Summary

Principal Responsibilities

• Create models from existing detailed drawings and parts utilizing existing drawings, CT Scans of existing and dimensioning existing parts.
• Perform reverse engineering from point cloud data for legacy components that do not currently have models or detailed drawings.
• Prepare dimensional drawings and more complex drawings.
• Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes, in collaboration with associated team members to ensure consistent documentation of the project.
• Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other customer documentation if service is requested by the application engineer or project manager.
• Revise and update drawings to ensure consistent documentation of the project.
• Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (like drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters for future reference).
• Other duties as required relating to CAD database maintenance, PDM, etc.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Education: Associate degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience: or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Proficient in SolidWorks software (2019 & 2023).
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 2018, Y14.1 2020, Y14.2 2014 and Y14.3 2012.
• Experience with point cloud data and manipulation.
• Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, listening, oral and written.
• Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Micorsoft Office.
• Able to generate layout drawings from sketches and specifications.
• Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures.
• Able to work with minimal supervision, efficently schedule and manage time.
• Ideal has worked within SolidWorks PDM system in the past.
